In the last few days, French Vogue has received huge criticism for it's choice of photographing beautiful 10 year old model Thylane Lena-Rose Blondeau. The gorgeous youngster is undoubtly pretty yet the controversary has flowed in on Vogue's choice of clothing. Posing in heavy make-up, stilletos heels and a dress which is slit down to her stomach, Thylane innocently pouts at the camera, leaving many to question whether these pictures are right or wrong. The images were first published in the December/January Issue of the magazine, however as "Good Morning America" discussed them on the show last week, they have hit the spotlight once again.
Fashion has never shyed away from age and we regulary see young models gracing our screens like Elle Fanning, 13, who recently modelled for Marc Jacobs. However, it seemed as though these shots took it just that little bit too far as people of all ages show their disapprovement.
What do you think?
I like the point Vogue was trying to make with these photos. We're so obsessed with youth it's become ridiculous. That being said, I have to wonder what this little girl's parents are thinking as she works regularly as a model, not just for vogue. Can't be healthy..
ReplyDeleteThe Pink Monocle
I totally get where you're coming from. Her parents are famous in France. Her father is a footballer and her mother is a well-known tv presenter. xx
ReplyDeleteShe is very pretty and I'm not opposed to children modelling as a rule obviously they are used for many ad campaigns but I don't agree with dressing them up like little adults, it over-sexualises very young children and I think this can lead to all sorts of problems.
ReplyDeleteReally liking your blog, found you on IFB and I'm now following you on bloglovin'
Totally agree with you. Whilst she is undoubtedly beautiful, she is still just 10 years old and unable to understand the industry.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
