All I forever seem to be doing lately is explaining to you guys why I haven't written in a while. I am sorry lovelies, but being a third year student is incredibly hard!
However, this week I've been thinking about people who inspire me and despite the obvious being my mother, Audrey Hepburn comes a close second. Her lifestyle growing up is what completely grounded her as an adult. I highly recommend you read her auto biography.
“My look is attainable. Women can look like Audrey Hepburn by flipping out their hair, buying the large sunglasses, and the little sleeveless dresses” - Audrey Hepburn
Audrey Hepburn has been my ultimate style icon for as long as I can remember. I never really remember how I came about to discover the hollywood beauty but all I do know is that ever since, I have been mesmerised by her look and glamour.
What I think is so special about Audrey Hepburn is that unlike other Hollywood star like Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly, Audrey never fell to the dangers of the Hollywood dream. It may have something to do with her upbringing? She was not a typical American beauty. She wasn’t even American! She didn’t grow up with dreams of being a Hollywood star. During the war, she danced for soldiers and afterwards came to England. She never thought she was good enough to sing or act. She didn’t even think she was pretty! It was’t until she was told she was too tall to make it as a dancer, was she then cast in the west end show Gigi in 1951 and decided her dream was to be an actress. What is so unforgettable about this amazing woman is her fashion style. All you girls out there who love the little black dress and the over sized sunglasses; you owe it to Audrey! She made them famous for you! When Coco Chanel designed the LBW in the 1920s, little did she know that later on, Audrey Hepburn would wear one designed by Givenchy and the dress would become every woman’s essential wardrobe item! Audrey Hepbrun will always be the most beautiful woman to me (apart from my mam obviously ;)) and will always remain the most caring, most fashionable and most genuine of all the Hollywood Ladies.
So, follow my Audrey Picks from the latest trends to walk in Ms Hepburn’s style!
