Vivienne Westwood Cardiff

The iconic British fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood, has recently opened her first store in the beautiful Welsh city of Cardiff, cementing the city's name as the place-to-be in fashion.

Located in the St David's shopping arcade, the store is inspired by the designer's flagship shop in London, featuring large open front windows, Westwood's iconic pink neon signature and in true Westwood style: a stage full of mannequins.

Westwood lovers will be pleased to hear that the store will stock all of Vivienne's incredible collections including Gold, Red, Anglomania Lee Jeans and Anglomania, including a huge variety of accessories, shoes and bags and even a selection of Red Carpet evening wear dresses for the lucky few who can afford to spend that little bit more.

After opening her first store "Let it Rock" in 1971 with Malcolm McLaren, Westwood has since expanded her collection across the UK and Europe, including one in fashion capitol Milan.

The decision for Westwood to pick Cardiff as one of its newest destinations is incredibly exciting for the stylish city as it means that designers are finally paying attention to the indie fashion scene that Cardiff can offer. With the big shopping centres spreading across the UK, Cardiff's small scale shopping style brings a homely comfort and familiarity to shopping that no other city has managed to duplicate.

Many of the designers including Pretty Green and Fred Perry, who are now coming to the City have chosen the old Victorian Arcades as the perfect place to expand their franchises.

Another reason why designers are starting to take note of the fashion underdog that is Cardiff is due to the unique style that was born in the City and surrounding valleys. It's not unusual to see trends from by-gone eras living and breathing in the City, as the residents are not afraid to push the boundaries of street style and fashion. Cardiff, as a City, is a hub for mods, rockers, punks and vintage lovers who all explore their own fashion inspirations, choosing to ignore the high street's opinion on what they should or shouldn't be wearing this season.

I for one cannot wait to explore what Westwood has to offer and I have been incredibly lucky to be invited to the VIP Launch Party on November 1. I'll be writing up a little snippet for you guys to see what it was like!
