Last week, or maybe the week before (my memory is awful) I wrote a story about a lady from the Welsh Valleys who was celebrating 21 years of receiving her new heart.
The remarkable story, which tells of how 66 year old Elizabeth Bairstow received a heart from a woman who is still alive today (try and get your mind round that), has since been picked up by a few of the Nationals including the Daily Star and Mirror as well as BBC Radio Wales.
Today however, I received a thank you card from Elizabeth. In it, she wished me a Happy Christmas and said how much she liked the original story I'd written.
It's the first story that I've written that's received this kind of attention and the thank you card has literally made my day, if not month. Without sounding like a clichéd writer; receiving a response like this from someone who's story you've told for them is probably why I decided to become a writer.
Anyway,
I know it's not fashion related but I think her story deserved to be told.
If you want to read it, it's here: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/south-wales-news/cynon-valley/2012/11/22/happy-21st-birthday-to-life-saving-new-heart-91466-32270855/
