After being greeted with a divine and delicate little goody bag which was full of gifts from Boux Avenue, New Look and MAC makeup, we were offered a plate of absolutely incredible spanish tapas, which was laid out as buffet by Cosy Club.
After I'd stuffed by face with numerous spicy meatballs and sweet potatoes, I then took my seat ready for the exclusive chat. I have to say, I was particularly looking forward to the make-up aspect of the chat as I'm currently debating whether to actually start wearing it (I obviously wear mascara and eyeliner but the rest, I have no clue).
Jo Evans, joined with her two models, gave us a little glimpse into the world of a television and film make-up artist as she showed us clever techniques on how to warm up the face for different locations and how to change the age of the face with clever shading. Who knew that shading your eyebrows made you look younger?! She then demonstrated how make-up artists create different looks such as sunburn, spraying a remarkable water like liquid onto her model's arms and forehead to show us a red glow like that of sunburn. Apparently, Jo and other make-up artists are able to create many of their skin products from everyday food items such as gelatine.
Jo showed us how to shade the face to create a more slimline nose and jaw line, as well as how to completely change your face shape by adding powder to the outer edges of your face. I love how Jo came up with different ideas for actresses make-up by creating mood boards, kind of like how a journalist would do it for a magazine. She showed us her cuttings for different looks. I sometimes wish I was able to create make-up looks like Jo, and honestly if I had the talent, I would definitely be pursuing a career in this part of the media. Can you imagine the people you'd meet and the projects you'd work on?
