Day 2- Interview with Coco Fennell

Daisy Lowe wearing Coco Fennell

With a name like Coco, she was born to be a designer. The gorgeous Coco Fennell may only have been creating her dresses for a year but she sure has made an impact on the fashion industry. Her dresses have already been work by the amazing Fearne Cotton, Marina and The Diamonds and more recently, Daisy Lowe at V. As well as designing, the lovely lady is also a Storm Model (you'll see why when you see how gorgeous she is) and has managed to create her Label from her little room in Shoreditch. Here, she talks to Fashion.Life by Mimi. x

Hey Darling, so, tell us about your label Coco Fennell.
I wanted to make dresses that didn't take themselves too seriously and that flattered all shapes and sizes of women. To make staple shapes that look great on everyone with varying prints so people can decide if they want something plain or unusual or girly.

Can you describe your designs in 4 words?
In four words i'd say fun, feminine, flattering and a bit silly!

How long have you been designing?
I only launched my website last November and I have been really lucky it's gone so well I can't believe it's only been 9 months feels like forever. I started designing after loving fashion all my life I thought I'd give it a try so did lots of researching and designing commissioned illustrator Jennifer Pitchers to help me with the more outlandish prints and headed out to India to have things made.

Who are you fave designers?
My favorite designers are people like Jeremy Scott and The Blonds - fun stuff that makes people stand out a bit!

How does it feeling seeing gorgeous celebs in your dresses?
To see someone like Daisy Lowe in one is a really great feeling first off because she's such a babe and looks fantastic in it and also because it exposes your work to so many more people.

What would you say to budding designers?
To budding designers I would say check out fashioncapital.co.uk it's really useful to find samplers and people to make small runs of clothing and to have a website where you can buy your designs and get onto somewhere like asos marketplace as it reaches such a wide audience.

What's next for Coco Fennell?
Next for me is I'm off to India to work on the new line which I am very excited about!
