I cannot believe that I have been at LOOK magazine for a week now and shall be going home in just 5 days. Even being in the office leaves me feeling inspired. I start my journey the same every week; overground to startford and then jubilee to Southwark, but everyday seems like a new day. Like my first day. I walk the pavements in complete awe of the tall buildings that overshadow me. I look at every person, every taxi, every bike and try and take it all in because I know that soon I shall be back in the Welsh valleys and all of this will just be a memory. An amazing memory.
Before I start chatting about today's antics, I have to talk about my amazing weekend with the beautiful Emily Holt. My darling cousin, who turns heads as she walks down the street, spent the weekend with me in London and we travelled around in our vintage dresses and camden clothes. We visited all the places that inspire us; Soho, Camden, Shoreditch, Convent Garden, and spent the days giggling and catching up. We rarely see eachother as we live at opposite ends of the UK but when we do, it's like we've never been apart. <3
So, to the part that you all really want to hear about. Day 6 of my fabulous time at LOOK magazine. I carried on with my research today as always (obviously a big part of writing articles) and settled into my new desk. I had to leave my old one as the Deputy Editor, Maria Coole, came back from holidays. So, in my rightful place at the features desk, I was able to talk to Catherine a lot more than before and felt like one of the team!
As well as proof reading, I also tried to come up with some more features ideas and Catherine has decided to send a few to the editor to see what she thinks! This is a big deal as the features team here very strict on what goes into to their amazing magazine so fingers crossed!
There was a lot of excitement in the office as the winners of the blog comp were going to be announced. Sadly, I didn't get shortlisted but I can hardly complain when I'm interening for them!
One of the highlights of my day today was having a lovely email from the equally lovely designer Coco Fennell, who I'd pitched as a feature to Jo :) One of Coco's dresses had been worn by a celeb at the V festival! I actually visited 123 Bethnal Green that sells Coco's dresses on the weekend and they are amazing!
You may think that I am very quiet about what exactly I research about when I write this blog. Well my sweeties, I do not want to spoil anything for you when you buy your next LOOK issue now do I! So, when I refer to work, I will always keep you guessing!
Lots of Love,
Mia xx
