New Look: Infographic on the Evolution of Festival Fashion*

Since I was little, I've always adored looking back at the past - whether it be history (I was obsessed with the Tudors and Egyptians, seriously) or the fashion scenes (you must have heard me talking about my mod dad by now), so when I had a little email introducing me to New Look's timeline of Festival Fashion,I was kinda intrigued.

As we all know and witness, fashion is forever changing, adapting, repeating and inventing and looking back at the styles and trends that we once loved and obsessed over, always brings back that happy nostalgic feeling.

I'm sure many of you have looked back at old photos of yourself as a 90s kid and noted the styles that took over the decade and your wardrobe (hello bomber jackets and popper trousers). Well the lovely guys at New Look have decided to focus on festival fashion, as of course the season is once again up us. They've created a festival fashion timeline which takes you from the 1960s to 2013: picking out the styles and clothes that made it that year.

New Look are always bang on trend when it comes to festival fashion. Whether you're looking for your staple denim shorts or your must-have gold cat ears (because ever girl needs cat ears at a festival) so they definitely know a thing or two when it comes to festival styles.

Festival fashion will always be an interesting one. Music has always and will always have a huge influence over the way we dress or look - whether we admit it or not, we aspire to dress like the stars that we love, so, not surprisingly, the fashion of a festival is an echo of the genre of music.

During the 60s, we had the hippy chic that was adorned by the long haired girls at Woodstock. Then, by the 80s, out comes the oversized tees and leopard print which was seen on stars like Madonna.

The styles we see at festivals are so inspiring because each decade, they evolved. Over the years, we've experimented with colours, textures and materials. We've dyed our hair, pierced our ears/lips/belly buttons and brightened our lip colour, and continued to follow the trends that dominated that season.

That's just a little snippet of the styles that New Look have focused on. Check out the timeline below or head to New Look Infographic where you can find it in full.

So, I wonder what next year and the years to come will throw at us?

He Wears, She Wears

Little Winter
 Katy and Matt
Shortlisted as "Best blogging duo" in the Company Magazine #stylebloggerawards

He Wears: Polo shirt - Ark Clothing, jeans - Topman and boots - Matalan
She Wears: Crop top  and skirt - Ark Clothing and pumps - Primark

This week is the first week that He Wears, She Wears has featured a guy! Yay! Hopefully this will inspire others (*cough* Aaron *cough)* to get involved with the feature too, so thank you Matt!

I can't quite remember how I found Katy's blog, but all I know is that I've been an avid reader ever since. Katy's feminine and playful sense of style is perfectly met with her intimate snaps of her home decor and life. After joining forces with her boyfriend, Matt, Little Winter was born. It provides the perfect platform for a blogging duo, featuring snaps of both Katy and Matt and their daily life.  Oh, and don't forget the rest of the Little Winter family, Little Schmidt and Little Runkle ;)

It's truly lovely to feature Little Winter on my blog and I hope you enjoy seeing them here as much me. Fans of Little Winter will recognise this picture from their blog. I particularly like this picture as I adore Katy's outfit. It's not only feminine and delicate but also fun, with the added pumps. As for Matt, the bird print pattern on trend and even compliments Katy's dot skirt. Blaadyyy gorgeous!

Q&A with Katy
How would you describe your style?
I'm a simple dresser but a sucker for a bit of print! I prefer to keep things easy by sticking on a dress with a collar and teaming them with boots. You can guarantee that's what I'm wearing most days! I'd say Matt's the same too, pairing a good pair of jeans with a smart shirt or casual tee. At least we don't argue over who's wearing what...!

What are your staple items that will never leave your wardrobe?
Most definitely a smock dress and my favorite cowboy boots! And actually, since buying my first pair of jeans two months ago, I secretly think I can't live without them now...! As for Matt, he reckons that he can't live without his denim shirt and beanie. It's the little things for us.

What's your favourite trend right now?
Monochrome! I think that it's so easy to do, and can look so flawless. Plus every girl owns a few too many LBDs!
