New Look: Infographic on the Evolution of Festival Fashion*

Since I was little, I've always adored looking back at the past - whether it be history (I was obsessed with the Tudors and Egyptians, seriously) or the fashion scenes (you must have heard me talking about my mod dad by now), so when I had a little email introducing me to New Look's timeline of Festival Fashion,I was kinda intrigued.

As we all know and witness, fashion is forever changing, adapting, repeating and inventing and looking back at the styles and trends that we once loved and obsessed over, always brings back that happy nostalgic feeling.

I'm sure many of you have looked back at old photos of yourself as a 90s kid and noted the styles that took over the decade and your wardrobe (hello bomber jackets and popper trousers). Well the lovely guys at New Look have decided to focus on festival fashion, as of course the season is once again up us. They've created a festival fashion timeline which takes you from the 1960s to 2013: picking out the styles and clothes that made it that year.

New Look are always bang on trend when it comes to festival fashion. Whether you're looking for your staple denim shorts or your must-have gold cat ears (because ever girl needs cat ears at a festival) so they definitely know a thing or two when it comes to festival styles.

Festival fashion will always be an interesting one. Music has always and will always have a huge influence over the way we dress or look - whether we admit it or not, we aspire to dress like the stars that we love, so, not surprisingly, the fashion of a festival is an echo of the genre of music.

During the 60s, we had the hippy chic that was adorned by the long haired girls at Woodstock. Then, by the 80s, out comes the oversized tees and leopard print which was seen on stars like Madonna.

The styles we see at festivals are so inspiring because each decade, they evolved. Over the years, we've experimented with colours, textures and materials. We've dyed our hair, pierced our ears/lips/belly buttons and brightened our lip colour, and continued to follow the trends that dominated that season.

That's just a little snippet of the styles that New Look have focused on. Check out the timeline below or head to New Look Infographic where you can find it in full.

So, I wonder what next year and the years to come will throw at us?

Company Magazine #stylebloggerawards 2013

What do you get when you put a load of super stylish bloggers, a DJ that plays the most amazing tunes, a group of highly talented and award winning writers who make up the team of the UK's most innovative and unique fashion mag all in one super cool, almost secretive, bar in Shoreditch? One of the most amazing parties you'll ever see, that's what!

Unless you've somehow managed to miss my constant twitter, facebook and instagram pics of the night, then you'll instantly know that I'm on about the Company Magazine #stylebloggerawards 2013, which was in association with New Look.

This little blog had been shortlisted in the "Best Fashion Blog" category and although I never thought we'd win, just being in the same category as the other hugely talented and creative bloggers was honestly such an achievement. I wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you who took the time to vote for By Mimi - it really did mean a lot to me.

The event itself was honestly one of the most amazing bloggers event that I've ever been to. Not only was it practically like an aspiring writer's heaven, being surrounded by the whole team of one of the most amazing and diverse magazines to come out of London, but it was also such an incredible feeling being invited to an event with so many motivated, determined and ambitious young women.

The event itself was situated just off Brick Lane in Shoreditch, which we all know is super stylish and cool. We were given free champers on arrival, as well as being treated to a number of blogger inspired cocktails! In true blogger style, there was a make up area where you could have your make up done, a hair styling area where bloggers could transform their locks, a craft area hosted by Pinterest's Pinned it! Made it! team,  where you could create your own sunglasses and also an amazing photobooth which was obviously hugely popular amongst us bloggers ;)

As the event was in association with New Look, there was also an area where you could browse some of their latest pieces and jewellery!

The awards were read out by the gorgeous Victoria White, who as you all know is the editor of Company Magazine, and Theresa Caney who is the beautiful web editor.

Obviously, being the aspiring writer that I am, I nabbed a quick few mins to have a chat with Victoria, who I had interviewed previously for this blog. She was SO lovely and really did take the time to answer my questions, which obviously made me respect her even more than I already did.

The bloggers who won all the awards all REALLY deserved them. They were all so grateful and seeing their smiles made the night extra amazing. We all spend so much time putting effort and hard work into our blogs that when we get recognised for it, it really does mean so much. HUGE congratulations to everyone who won and obviously every who was shortlisted.

Anyway, I'll let you have a little browse of those photos. Thank you Company Mag for putting on such a fantastic event! Same time next year, yes? ;)
