Friday Wishlist: Fitness

For a few months now I've been trying my best to get fit. I've always been quite slim but when I went to university, I started to take my lovely metabolism for granted and spent my days developing very bad eating habits. Weekly fast food trips with the boy plus stupid amounts of alcohol, no exercise and a love for pasta and all things naughty and you end up with one very out of shape, very unfit little red head.

I decided that after I graduated, it was time for a change(mainly because I got out of breath when I ran for the train one day). By this time I'd already cut out heavy white carbs such as pasta and white bread as they made me ill, so it wasn't too hard to change my diet, although learning to eat everything in moderation and not spend every evening scoffing on homemade cakes was hard - I come from a baker's family remember.  I also started interval training, kettlebells, running and going to the gym to help develop my core strength and improve my fitness.

I've bored my friends to death by talking about my lunch, my workouts and how long I spent at the gym last night but for me, feeling healthy and keeping active has had such an impact on my self esteem and my mind that I don't really care (sorry girls).

I'm a complete amateur at it all though and I don't pretend like I know it all. I try and make up for this by reading up on nutrition and workouts etc so that I know that what I'm doing is right for me.

After spending all this time talking about it to my friends, it was quite clear that this would end up as a blog post at one point. However, I think today, I'm going to focus on my gym clothes - something which every girl thinks about when heading there (don't lie, I know you do.)

Luckily for me, I live near a outlet shopping centre called McArthur Glen Designer Outlet, which means that a Nike store which has 30% discount on all its stock is my heaven. I bought my trainers here, plus some great jogging trousers and tees.

I'm into prints and patterns at the moment so really loving my recent leggings purchase! They cost just £12 and are perfect for both running and the gym.

I've scoured the web to find some of my fave exercise apparel to add a little colour to workout. It's always good to stand out and just because you're heading to the gym to sweat and work hard, doesn't mean you have to limit yourself to wearing black or white. There's so many different collections out there now that are experimenting with prints and patterns so it's easy to find some cool kits. Also, as the sports luxe trend has been huge in the recent seasons, many of the high street stores are now stocking their own sports clothes, including European giants H&M.

So girls, you have no excuse ;)

Friday Wishlist

I can't believe that last week I was talking about finding summer clothes to wear in the office when all we've had this week is torrential down pours and mini monsoons! I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and moan about something I have no control over (I'm talking about the weather obv) so instead I'll just continue to be blissfully ignorant.

So, here's my bright and sunny Friday wishlist. Today, I've focused on China Doll boutique as I've completely fallen in love with their clothes! No idea how it's taken me so long to find out about them but thanks to ASOS market place, they're now bookmarked on my laptop. I'd recommend visiting their website here to have a browse and find out more.

On the website, they do explain that they will be changing their name to Sugar + Style so make sure you remember that when looking in the future! I've already picked out a dress for a special occasion but I'll share that with you when it arrives!

I love China Doll boutique because each of the items is quite bold yet still has that classic feel to them. Take the floral Eliza dress for example. I love how this chic 60s style dress is revamped with neon flowers! Definitely brightens up the trend!

Oh, and if you're looking on twitter then you can find them @sugarandstyle_

Enjoy! x

Friday Wishlist: Summer outfit at work!

This week was the first week that I've really felt what it's like to work in an office during the sun! Being a recent graduate ( I say recent, it's been nearly a year now!) I'm used to spending this time of year revising in the garden and chilling back with floaty dresses, sandals and barely there make  up. However, now that I'm a fully fledged adult with a 9-5 job and everything, it's not quite as acceptable to rock up to work wearing a baggy tee and some denim shorts!

So, my latest shopping buys have mainly consisted of lightweight clean cut tops, delicate dresses and cigarette trousers - which all work perfectly in the summer sun at work. I've picked out some items that are ideal for a day at the office in the sun, whilst still ensuring you stay on top of the latest trends!

How would you style them?

Friday Wishlist

Recently I've really been into laid back fashion. I'm talking slouchy tees, trainers and oversized jumpers. Although, due to me being a little way off pay day at the moment, I haven't actually purchased many of my new must-have/need items.

Last night, I ventured into town with the boy and literally fell in love with nearly every item in Topshop. My love for floral feminine items has clearly now gone out of the window. Nowadays, it's either classic, staple items such as my black skinnies and a clean cut shirt, or dressed down, laid back attire like these cult tees or jumpers. Even at 21, I still don't have a definitive style! These little items may not have the wow factor in terms of standing out, but pair them with a staple necklace and a pair of classic shoes and they'd do the trick. They're definitely what I'm craving now anyway!

What about you? Have you found yourself going after items you wouldn't normally wear?
