Friday Wishlist

I've been so busy finishing work and getting ready for my post grad course that I haven't been able to keep up some of my blog features lately. I'm definitely going to get my little brother back on the blog for Jesse Wears soon so keep an eye out for that.

I'm also looking forward to featuring some other bloggers on here for my "She Wears" feature. If anyone would like to get involved with that then tweet me: @miaholt

As I'm due to make the big jump back into University education again, it also seemed like the right time to create a Friday Wishlist post seen as that looks like all I'm going to be able to do for a while! (hello even more student debts!).

My wishlist is ever growing at the moment, but I know that I want to really sort out my old wardrobe and get some key staple pieces that will take me through the transitional period and winter months.

Admittedly, a little mis-matched but I've had my eye on these beauts for a little while now!

He Wears, She Wears: Sophie Falcon

 Sophie Falcon
20 years old
Journalism Student
 Blogger: Twisted Individual

Playsuit - Topshop,  Roll neck crop top - Urban Outfitters, Cardigan - Primark,  Shoes - River Island, Bag - Zara

Whenever I see Sophie, she's always beautifully dressed. She has that effortless style that just seems to be come quite natural to her. When I used to be president of Cardiff University Fashion Society, I knew I could rely on Soph to be a model in one of our shows as whatever we styled her in, she always pulled it off.

Q&A with Sophie

How would you describe your style? Are you a trend follower or do you like paving your own way?
I am inspired by current trends but always try to break to mould with what I wear. There is nothing fun in staying safe.
Your top must-go shops?
This is tough - my 'must go' shop varies on season. However, it is always a task to stay away from Zara.
What or who in particular influences your fashion choices?
I love street spotting! I'm not ashamed in approaching someone to compliment their style. Also loving Iggy Azalea's thing right now.
What is fashion to you? (creative outlet, fun, expression etc...)
Fashion is expression. It is a chance for you to show your individuality and shows a sign of real confidence.

Do you guys love Sophie as much as me? You should check out  some of her modelling ones for Buffalo Boutique in Cardiff!

Friday Wishlist: Summer outfit at work!

This week was the first week that I've really felt what it's like to work in an office during the sun! Being a recent graduate ( I say recent, it's been nearly a year now!) I'm used to spending this time of year revising in the garden and chilling back with floaty dresses, sandals and barely there make  up. However, now that I'm a fully fledged adult with a 9-5 job and everything, it's not quite as acceptable to rock up to work wearing a baggy tee and some denim shorts!

So, my latest shopping buys have mainly consisted of lightweight clean cut tops, delicate dresses and cigarette trousers - which all work perfectly in the summer sun at work. I've picked out some items that are ideal for a day at the office in the sun, whilst still ensuring you stay on top of the latest trends!

How would you style them?

He Wears, She Wears: Zoe Brooks

 Zoe Brooks
21 years old
Freelance Fashion Writer
Journalism Graduate

Shirt: Urban Outfitters, Dungarees: Moto by Topshop, Socks: H&M, Riding boots: Vintage

Zoe looks bloody gorgeous in her Topshop dungarees! She pulls of the denim trend effortlessly by pairing them with her over the knee socks and patterned shirt. The outfit is perfect for spring when it's that blissful weather where we don't need our winter coats but maybe need some lovely socks for our toes!
Beautiful. Effortless. Cool.

Q&A with Zoe:
Are you a trend follower or do you like paving your own way?
While I wouldn't say that I follow trends religiously (because things like this seasons tutu-craze and last years 'sport luxe' really AREN'T my cup of tea) I do treat Vogue like the bible; so when it comes to knowing whats trending this season, I usually know, and I usually have atleast 4 or 5 season staples. This season I guess it's a pair of dungarees, something neon, an ankle strap shoe, a crop top and a floral dress.
Staple items that will never leave your wardrobe?                          Staple items that will never leave my wardrobe? I LOVE anything high-waisted. High-waisted shorts. High-waisted skirts. High-waisted Jeans. High-waisted disco pants. They are super flattering for those of us with dooty legs
Fave trend at the moment?                                      I'm actually looking forward to the Great Gatsby release. I'm hoping the high-street will pick up on furs, beads and tassles; any excuse to kick on some 1920s glamour.

What do you think about Zoe's outfit?

He Wears, She Wears: Megan Ellaby

It's finally here! After a few weeks of planning, today is the launch day of my new feature - He Wears, She Wears. I wanted to create  a feature that celebrates your fashion tastes, your creativity and your styles. I think they're much more appealing than anything I could ever offer. So, let's start of with a beaut of a blogger called Megan. Here's the first She Wears post!

Megan Ellaby
20 years old
Student: Fashion Communication and Promotion
Intern: House of Holland, ASOS, Alexander McQueen, JD Sports, Band, Size and Blacks.

 Overalls- Topshop
Crop- Primark
Boots- Topshop
Fedora- Topshop

I absolutely ADORE Megan's style. I love how she mixes the laid back cool with the fedora and boots, with the super on trend overalls - a trend that is infused into every high street shop's collection this season. Definitely a look that I'll be trying myself sometime!

Make sure you all check out Megan's blog - it's a the perfect amount of OOTD posts mixed with trend predictions and designer profiles. I can see this blog becoming a regular on my blogroll!

Megan says: "This outfit is quite a laidback look, a simple overall and black crop all rolled together with a shoe boot and a fedora. I have come quite attached to hats recently due to my rather stubborn fringe so a hat is an easy way to keep it at bay. These Topshop overalls are now my go to piece, they're so easy and go with a number of tops underneath whether its t shirts, crop tops or shirts, spiffing!"

Q&A with Megan:

How would you describe your style? Are you a trend follower or do you like paving your own way?
I am a trend follower to an extent, I like to follow trends and I read Vogue and Elle religiously each month, but I know what I like and I know what suits me so not all trends are for me.

What or who in particular influences your fashion choices?
I have a few girl crushes who massively influence my looks, Alexa Chung in particular is a big one for me.
What is fashion to you?
Fashion for me is feeling comfortable in what you're wearing, it's a way of expressing who you are and what you're about. Fashion for me is my life as I study it, write about it and work within it so Fashion is me.

What do you think? Do you love Megan's style as much as me?

Friday Wishlist

Recently I've really been into laid back fashion. I'm talking slouchy tees, trainers and oversized jumpers. Although, due to me being a little way off pay day at the moment, I haven't actually purchased many of my new must-have/need items.

Last night, I ventured into town with the boy and literally fell in love with nearly every item in Topshop. My love for floral feminine items has clearly now gone out of the window. Nowadays, it's either classic, staple items such as my black skinnies and a clean cut shirt, or dressed down, laid back attire like these cult tees or jumpers. Even at 21, I still don't have a definitive style! These little items may not have the wow factor in terms of standing out, but pair them with a staple necklace and a pair of classic shoes and they'd do the trick. They're definitely what I'm craving now anyway!

What about you? Have you found yourself going after items you wouldn't normally wear?

HYPE.BEANIE (GREY TRI-BLEND) £9.99

  TOPSHOP NUMBER 76 tee £18.00

Topshop MOTO BLEACH ACID KIRI MOM JEANS £40.00

TOPSHOP ROLL BACK CROP TEE £10.00

Topshop PREMIUM LUCA ROMANYI NECKLACE £45.00

Wardrobe of an Intern

Sitting her watching my daily dose of Doctors (Yes, I am a huge fan) I have been day-dreaming about my outfit for London. With only a few days left before I hit the big city for my 2 week placement at LOOK magazine, my thoughts have obviously turned to "What on earth am I going to wear?!".
As an intern, you are expected to run around, pick up things, phone people and do the odd job so your outfit needs to be practical but OBVIOUSLY fashionable.
So I have been hunting the rails for the perfect first day outfit, and here is it:
I've kept it casual smart but still ready for the office with the flat shoes and big bag. The skirt length is below the knee (professional) and the top covers the cleavage.

What do you think?
